Choosing the right landscape design style for your yard will depend on the appearance of your home and your personal choices and needs. As you are planning what to do with your yard, it is good to know of the different landscape designs available out there, with each one having unique characteristics and offering you variations to satisfy your purpose and needs. Here are some ideas of garden styles that you can choose from in order to make your property look at its best.

The first type of landscape style is called formal gardens where it shows linear patterns, defined shapes and project an overall neatness that you can describe as formal. The Georgian garden is one perfect example of a landscape design which is generally seen in estates where there is a uniformity of a formal style in landscaping. Be aware though that while you can have a spectacular display in formal gardens, this style is quite costly and has an extensive maintenance. Know more about

Next is the informal landscape design, which as the name suggests, feature imperfect shapes and meandering curves that are natural and relaxed. To attain the informal landscape design, you plan a natural layout, and put native plants that can grow with overflowing flower beds of various colors and texture. The unkempt look and laidback appearance of this type of landscape design will have an easier and lesser cost to maintain unlike to that of a formal garden, although regular upkeep is still needed.

Using the unique features of both formal and informal gardens, the next landscape style is called the English garden style. In this style, there will be an elegant yet simple projection of the garden with its quaint borders and hedges, vibrant and lush blooms, and thus an invitation to an intimate outdoor relaxation area.

The next type of garden is a reflection of the relaxing effects of nature because of its balanced, peaceful and serene gardens, and is called the oriental landscape. This design is influenced by the Asian concept of the beauty of outdoors combined with the privacy and shade on a miniaturized level. This design projects a more tranquil outdoor style with lush bamboos for example, with the combination of charming foot paths and bridges, and water flowing naturally.

You might for the tropical outdoor design, a style of landscape that is lush with vivid colors and would fit most if you belong to the warm and moist climate. In this design, what are used are ferns, shrubs and fruits trees with big leaves, and are accentuated with bright blooms that typifies a tropical landscape.
